Best movie: Alice in Wonderland
Really? The Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp? That’s another movie that creeped-me-out! Please tell me about it; what was it that makes you say “Best Picture,” ?
Hard to judge a contest if you haven’t seen all entrants B, but we all have our own options. : )
I picked most of the winners this year, but it wasn’t too hard—some surprises.
Too bad you missed “Black Swan”—as I described this to a friend, “It’s a wonderfully f’ed up movie! And a study through the DSM-IV.” Plus, being a theater gal, I loved it’s theatrical everything. Yes, it’s dark, and so very well done. But I do understand if you’re sensitive, it could not be your cup of tea.
As for “Alice in Wonderland”—Tim Burton is an acquired (and twisted) taste I learned to appreciate from “Nightmare Before Christmas”—brilliantly done. C’mon, it’s fantasy! Oscar for costumes (Colleen Atwood, same for “Chicago” and “Memoirs of a Geisha”)
Thing about the Oscars is that only ONE can win when so many are deserving. Got a lot to see on DVD ; D
