Graham-Kapowsin Community Council celebrates 13th year with EXPO

Special to the Mountain News-WA

The Graham – Kapowsin Community Council is celebrating its 13th year of service to the residents of the Greater Graham area with its annual “Expo.” This year, the festivities will be held at the Graham Elementary School, located on 204th St, just west of Meridian Ave.

As it years past, the Expo will feature a range of political and social exhibits, items from local crafters, and foodstuffs. Entertainment will be provided by a bevy of local talent, such as storytellers, singers, and dance troupes.

The GKCC uses the vendors’ fees to buy the insurance needed to run the dozens of projects administered by the Council, such as the food programs during vacation times for students, after-school ecology programs and field trips, and family counseling and community gardens.

Below is their flyer announcing the event and giving details on how to participate in the Expo.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE 13TH Annual Spring Expo Fundraiser

Saturday February 27, 2016 from 9:00am -3:00pm – Graham Elementary School

We are excited about EXPO 2016 on Saturday, February 27th! Set up either on Friday, February 26th from 6:00 pm-7:00pm or on Saturday, February 27th from 8:00am-9:00am. Please bring all the supplies you need to set up your event spot.

Attached are Important Fliers about our Upcoming Event!   We are looking for Vendors, Shoppers, Donors, Entertainers and Sponsors.

We hope you will help us by participating in this Worthy Project aimed at raising funds for ‘FEED the Children’ Program.  There are over 300 hungry and homeless teens in the Greater Graham Area.

Your contribution truly makes a difference in these precious lives!  We encourage you to bring donations of either non-perishable food or money  to support the FEED project.

Often vendors like to put one of their items in the silent auction as another way to market their product. If you would like to do this, be sure to let us know so we can make up a bid sheet with your name, item and value.

We must have a picture of your donated item on or before February 20th.  Please email your picture and description to Carol @ carol.victoria.wright@gmail.com.

If you are serving food, be sure to have your food handler’s permit as Pierce County Health Department will be conducting their inspections that day.   Your permit must be visible within your event spot.

GKCC and Harvest House have planned two Fun Runs (1) on February 27, 2016 and (1) on May 7, 2016.  Help feed a child in need! 5K & 1K Run / Walk — All ages welcomed!

$10 Registration Fee, which will be done at the Fun Run Event. $15.00 T-shirts will also be available for purchase.

*Special Thanks to Pierce Prairie Post, Craig’ s List, TNT, multiple Facebook pages, community bulletin boards in Pierce County, electric  reader boards, Klukwali’s 4 sandwich boards, Tacoma Pierce County and the Dispatch for their advertising coverage!

We are looking forward to this year’s program. Please post this information on your Facebook pages, invite your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to this incredible event!

Thank you and we look forward to hearing back from you.
