Road closures will affect Canyon Road through the weekend

Beginning tonight and continuing through the weekend, Canyon Road East and two of its major intersections will have intermittent closures.  The closures facilitate the Canyon Road construction project that is widening the roadway and adding other amenities.

Canyon Road East at Military Road East and at Brookdale Road East will be reduced to one lane in each direction during the cross street closures. Detours will be posted.

Military Road East will be closed at 8 p.m. on Thursday and reopen Friday at 5 a.m. It will close again on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (approx.) and reopen at4:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Brookdale Road East will be close at 8 p.m. on Friday and reopen Saturday at 6:30 p.m.  After reopening, there will continue to be limited turning movements until 9 p.m. on Sunday.

On Sunday, 160th Street East will close from 4:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid the construction area.  Information on this project can be found online at www.piercecountywa.org/crp5656.
