Graham-Kapowsin High School
The Eagles volleyball team defeated district rival SpanawayLake behind Ayla Carpenter’s four aces while Jessica Bailey spiked 17 kills against the Sentinels. Kyla Ogbrun finished with nine kills and three aces and Taylor Nolte had seven blocks. Setter Alex Tuilepia had 28 assists in the victory. However, the win was off-set by a loss to Auburn-Riverside, in which Tuilepia had 32 assists and Ayla Langu had six blocks and eight kills.
The Eagles Girls golf team was victorious against Rogers and lost to Emerald Ridge as Jordan McAlister scored twelve points in each match. The Boys squad knocked off Rogers behind Hans Nothstein, who was the overall winner with a scoring round of 42.
Both the G-K Boys and Girls cross country squads defeated Bethel, but came up short to Puyallup. Jonathan Jackson, who was recently featured in The Mountain News, led the way in a personal best time of 15:02. Mykaela Thomas led the way for the girls, also notching a personal best time of 20:00.
The Eagles (3-1) won on the football grid-iron over Emerald Ridge 46-27 to snag their third win of the season. Teague James and Kyle Madson each rushed for two TDs, while Kahlil Dawson and Brady Austin each rushed for touchdowns of their own. Kyle Madson caught a pass from Brady Austin to score also.
The Boys tennis club defeated Bethel as Niko Convento was a winner in singles play, while the doubles teams of Jeff Hamilton/Nate Poje, Jason Brightman/Austin McKinley and Austin Burke/Bracken Ward were all victorious.
The fielders of Girls soccer beat SpanawayLake behind four goals from Jordan Narramore (2), Emily Larue and Kaylee Bearett.
Spanaway Lake High School
The Sentinel Girls golf team conquered Bethel as Megan Provence finished on top with a scoring round of 58. They weren’t so lucky against Rogers, finishing with a loss against the Rams.
Boy’s tennis lost to Rogers, but Andrew Cruz was a winner in singles play. The team also fell to Emerald Ridge.
Both cross country teams for Spanaway Lake fell to Emerald Ridge and Federal Way, but Puerto-Montes led the Girls team with a time of 22:08.
In football, the Sentinels fell to Rogers 21-14, evening up their record at 2-2. Joe Martin rushed for a single touchdown on Friday night.
Bethel High School
Girls Soccer won against Rogers as Keana King scored the winning goal and Brianna Stutheit had the shut-out against the Rams in goal.
Braves volleyball edged KentLake behind Delaney Johnson’s fourteen kills, two aces and two blocks. Setter Courtney New had fourteen assists, while Jackie Bonds finished with four kills, five digs and one block. However, their cheers were drowned out by a loss to Rogers, in which Jackie Bonds had nine kills and New had thirteen assists.
The Boys Golf squad notched a win against district rival Spanaway Lake behind overall winner, Mason Struna, who finished with a scoring round of 41.
Braves football was crushed by Federal Way 45-16 in Friday’s league match. Marcus Walter rushed for a single touchdown, while Noah Bales caught a pass from Connor Reopelle to score also. The loss evens Bethel’s record at 2-2 for the season.
