CooperCon 2021 to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the DB Cooper Skyjacking in Grand Style

By Bruce A. Smith

The 50th Anniversary of DB Cooper’s historic skyjacking will be celebrated November 19-21 – the weekend before Thanksgiving – in Vancouver, WA, promoter and preeminent researcher Eric Ulis announced last week. The event will be held at the Kiggins Theater, which was the site of the 2019 CooperCon, the last one held before the Covid pandemic.

CooperCon 2021 will consist of an initial social on Friday night, Nov. 19, while Saturday and Sunday will feature presentations and panel discussions from research experts, members of the crew, and retired FBI agents who worked the case. The DB Cooper hijacking occurred November 24, 1971 and commenced in Portland (Oregon) International Airport. It has never been solved, and the FBI officially closed the case in August 2016. Nevertheless, private researchers and citizens sleuths have continued the Hunt for DB Cooper.

Highlights of the conference will include an appearance by 2nd Officer Bill Rataczak, the individual actually flying the plane when DB Cooper jumped off the aft stairway, never to be seen again. Joining Mr. Rataczak will be Catherine Scott, the daughter of Captain William “Scotty” Scott, the Pilot-in-Charge of Cooper’s getaway craft, Flight 305, now-deceased. Ms. Scott will join Mr. Rataczak in helping determine the flight path and location Flight 305.

In addition, retired FBI agent Mary Jean Fryrar will discuss her investigation of Sheridan Peterson, one of the top suspects in this case.

One of the foremost researchers of Norjak, as the DB Cooper case is officially known, Tom Kaye, will have a treasure trove of information to share. Kaye has been the chief of the Citizen Sleuths, the FBI auxiliary for Norjak, since 2009, and has brought to light the titanium and rare earth minerals found on the tie Cooper left behind, along with discovering springtime diatoms on some of the ransom money recovered from Tina Bar in 1980.

The fellow who actually found the money, Brian Ingram, will be in attendance to give us a personal perspective on this critical piece of evidence, especially the state of the rubber bands upon initial discovery.

The Cooperite who shared his “Cooper Twenty” with Kaye, Mark Metzler, will be presenting his latest information on the issue of the parachutes and the survivability of the jump, which occurred at night, in a chilly November rainstorm.

Further, Marty Andrade, author of Finding DB Cooper – Chasing the Last Lead in America’s Only Unsolved Skyjacking, will be discussing his original findings of the survivability in parachute jumps by inexperienced pilots, such as the bomber crews of World War II.

Also, publisher Vern Jones will be delivering his analysis of the Cooper confession from Walter Reca. Several years ago, Jones published DB Cooper and Me, an account of Reca’s exploits by author Carl Laurin, who died earlier this year. Hopefully we will have an update from Jones on the lingering questions surrounding Reca’s appearance in the woods of Cle Elum, WA on the night of the skyjacking. If Reca was not DB Cooper, then what was he doing walking in the rain of this sleepy logging town, dressed in a dark business suit and toting a large black bundle?

Another individual bearing witness to Cooper Lore will be Marla Wynn Cooper, the niece of Lynn Doyle Cooper, who was a major suspect in Norjak for many years. Allegedly, the FBI closed the case in 2016 after they concluded the fingerprints they had collected from Uncle LD did not match those recovered from Flight 305.

Concerning the fingerprint issue, Bruce A. Smith, author of DB Cooper and the FBI, will be delivering an overview of the entire issue – how many prints were collected, what types, from where on the plane – and just as important – who collected them? The inconsistencies and mysteries surrounding this seemingly simple issue are many, and recent FBI disclosures and documents are confounding.

Other FBI agents and crew members are being invited to attend, such as Larry Carr and Tina Mucklow. Also, the Air Traffic Controller handling Flight 305 when Cooper jumped, Cliff Ammerman, is invited and expected to attend the conference.

CooperCon21 is being organized by Eric Ulis, who appeared in the 2020 History Channel documentary on Cooper, titled: “The Final Hunt for DB Cooper.” In addition, the Master of Ceremonies for CooperCon21 will be Darren Schaefer, the noted host of “The Cooper Vortex,” the premier podcast of all things Norjak.

As many of the principals involved in Norjak have passed away due to age, this event promises to be an historic, one-of-a-kind gathering and will be filmed in its entirety by documentarian Brett Eichenberger.

“CooperCon21 will be Big, Fun, and Informative,” promises Eric Ulis. For those wishing to join this momentous event in person, tickets can be obtained at CooperCon2021.com. The cost is $20 per person.

  1. Eric Ulis says:

    Thanks for the write-up Bruce.

  2. brucesmith49 says:

And a hat tip to you, too, Eric, for putting the whole thing together.

  3. Mark says:

Is it possible to purchase a weekend pass ahead of time? I’m going to be traveling from Indiana…

I may have my book ready to go by then…

    Looking forward to attending.

    • Eric Ulis says:

Tickets will be available for sale soon…hopefully this week. They’ll be available through the Kiggins Theatre website.

      • Gypsy23 says:

Maybe Adventure Books will write and publish the biography about Eric Ulis’ success as the man who cracked the Cooper case and got elected to Congress because if it? That would be the closest Robert Blevins would get to true fame.

      • Johnnie Greene says:

If Skipp Porteous was alive today, Eric Ulis would invite him to speak at the CC21. Skipp’s alleged co-author…….NO.
He would not be welcomed for very obvious reasons, the least of which no one would attend CC21.

  4. Johnnie Greene says:

Excellent, Uncle Brucie. While you folks are having the time of your lives at CC21, the search parties will continue scouring the woods for “lost” campers Blevins and his boyfriend, Greg. HUGE LOL…..

  5. Vicki Wilson says:

This would be a fun Cooper reunion. It would be fun to see everyone.

If the US/Canadian border is open, my brother who was born in late December 1972 in Vancouver, BC, (recently found by the way of an Ancestry DNA test) could travel down as well.

  6. Marla says:

We are so happy that someone as upbeat and positive as Eric Ulis is putting on the CC21 this fall. It should be a blast. I’ll bet 1000 tickets will be sold and the conference will operate all weekend in double shifts. Bruce Smith, Darren, Shutter, 377, Parrot, Kermit, maybe Georger 🤞and the entire gang of Cooper good guys will be there with smiling faces and numerous surprise guests to make appearances. Unfortunately, Eric had to contend with that disgusting old grinch, Bobby Blevins, who threatens to sabotage CC21, like he did in 2019. Negativity and ugliness follows Blevins around like the plague. Little wonder that Skipp Porteous absolutely refused to meet Blevins in person. Skipp knew to avoid Blevins right up until the day Skipp passed away. Blevins is an old washed-up troublemaker with zero friends. He lies about his campouts. NO ONE has ever attended a Blevins Cooper campout. He had to photoshop pictures of campers because there are none. He’s a pathetic, lonely old man who’s purpose in life is to ruin others progress. Meanwhile, we wish Eric and Bruce and Shutter all the success as they pull off this huge event in November. 👍👍👍

    • Gypsy23 says:

Great comment, Marla. So looking forward to the CC21, knowing that Blevins won’t be there. But, does anybody really care? Bruce’s MN and Shutter’s Cooper Forum are light years ahead of the DZ, ever since Blevins has been banned for life by Bruce and Shutter.

      • Johnnie Greene says:

Yes, great comment by Marla. Eric, Bruce and Dave (Shutter) are the Cooper progressives. Blevins has been shut out for good. Blevin’s farcicle campouts get Greg the wacko-techie into the woods with Blevins for some pork and beans around the campfire. Into the blast makes great fire starter.🤣🤣🤣🤣

      • Gypsy23 says:

Bruce’s comment section in the Mountain News gets 20 times the viewership of the DropZone. That was just confirmed. In other words, the very few people who actually read anything by Blevins (because he’s banned everywhere else) all go to the Mountain News for their real source of DBCooper information. I’m sure a few go to the MN for a good laugh too! 😂😂
You have to admit, Blevins is the source of non-stop eye-rolling and gagging laughter. Not with him………at him.

      • Johnnie Greene says:

Outstanding topical line-up, Eric. Well organized and well thought-out. Will there be a discussion on the history of “disrupters” in the Cooper case? Also, who’s been hired to do the janitorial work and general clean-up of the Kiggins if over 1000 people show up……….which I believe they will?

      • Gypsy23 says:

        Question?
        .
Does a dress rehearsal involve someone wearing a dress? At first we thought ……it must be Greg Techie. But….since Greg is in charge……maybe it’s the other guy.
        .
        BTW,
Three more Cooper parties are being planned in the Pacific Northwest this fall. All three in the Portland area. Huge events. More to follow…..

    • Gypsy23 says:

We hear that Into the Blast book, written by author Skipp Porteous, is selling millions of copies. So much that Adventure Books is now getting ready to acquisition Crown Books. Of course, all of this comes from the mouth of RM Blevins………so……..well you know. I purchased a copy of Blast for 79¢ in Auburn, WA.
The book store owner took it back and fully refunded me. He called it “Into the Trash.”
Bruce Smith’s monumental work is the gold standard of DB Cooper books.

      • Marla says:

Yes, Bruce’s book IS the best. Book by Skipp Porteous, not so much. At least now we know the reason Porteous changed his address so many times since 2008.

      • Johnnie Greene says:

We asked Geoff Gray if he would attend the CC21 and he said he was going to consider it. Then we asked him if he ever thought about attending a Cooper Campout. He said, “a definite NO. Silliest thing he’s ever heard.”
Gray doesn’t like Blevins. And he told us that Skipp Porteous didn’t like Blevins either. That would explain why Skipp refused to ever meet with Blevins. What a weird thing, for a supposed co-author not wanting to meet the other co-author.

      • Gypsy23 says:

Blevins didn’t even attend Skipp Porteous’ funeral or memorial service.
How’s that for friendship and co-author ship?

      • Marla says:

What? Parrothead Vol used to scrub toilets too? LOL….. Well, his admission (see DZ comment) is somewhat comical and performed as a younger man. PHV does a service to the investigation and he asks intelligent questions ……and is a friend to MN and Bruce Smith. The other guy?, a record of jealousy and disruption, and LIES. But everyone already knows this.

      • Johnnie Greene says:

Stick to doing what you were born to do, RMB (we all know what that is). Your opinions, which you broadcast as having some superior knowledge about NORJAK, is utterly laughable. For a guy who has allegedly written a half a book on Cooper, but has never stepped foot at Tena’s Bar, your name-dropping is as low-rank as a yardbird. Leave the heavy lifting to guys like Eric, Bruce, and Dave.
Go waste your time in the woods somewhere, but please leave us alone. Your endless chucking and clucking has gotten the thumbs-down from screen writers and doc producers. Go find a different woodpecker hole.

      • Marla says:

Envious Blevins at it again. Don’t worry. Eric Ulis, along with Bruce Smith and the superstar guests of CC21, will pack the Kiggins to beyond capacity. A film documentary is going to be made of it too. Blevins is a one-trick pony. He has over-recited the Ken Christian fable, hoping that if you tell the same lie over and over for 10 years, it will eventually be believed. Not true, in this case, because everyone already knows Robert Blevins is just a simpleton liar.
        .
BTW, funny comment by Johnny Green. I guess Mr. Blevins has found other uses for woodpecker holes besides DB Cooper’s money stash. LOL.

      • Gypsy23 says:

Woodpeckers are amusing birds. The holes that they dig out are custom fit for human idiots. After completion, the peckers fly to the next tree and watch “the idiot” think he’s pulling money from it, or, they watch “the idiot” human try and put “something” into the hole that makes him look like the lonliest man in the universe.
The DB Cooper case has one of these well known human idiots. And he’s also well known….to the woodpeckers who live in the PNW woods.

      • Johnnie Green says:

LOL….the making of a great side distraction documentary of how DB Cooper finally sent a known complainer over the edge…..
“One Flew Over the Woodpecker Hole.”
        starring…..you know who!……LOL….

    • Gypsy23 says:

We just received an inquiry from a Hollywood producer. He wants to know if they can use that phrase for a title for their new Cooper movie. Some people will go to any length to get recognized. But the recognition is NOT good. Poor guy is getting not what he asked for. Start repacking that camping gear. The woods are calling.

      • Marla says:

What does a woodpecker do when he drills the hole clear to the other side?
        .
answer: go the DZ and see for yourself. The old woodpecker just keeps drilling. A truly dumb bird with traumatic brain injury.

      • Johnnie Greene says:

I always thought that the porn attacks at the DZ were coming from Blevins……who was posing as Derek. Blevins has a calculating history of posing as others so he could get onto Shutter’s site. The fool even admitted it. That’s why Shutter and Bruce banned Blevins from ever posting at their sites again. Life-time bans.

      • Johnnie Greene says:

…..although, the lifetime ban on Blevins could be lifted if Blevins gets Alzheimers soon, or, if he gets permanently lost in the woods. Shutter and Uncle Brucie are empathetic to a few other things concerning Old Blevs, like Gayla kicking him out of their Auburn bungalow or Greg Techie finding a new guy…….LOL…

      • Marla says:

You have no clue what was going on between me and the FBI, Mr. Blevins. So stop speculating. Why don’t you go do something constructive instead of acting like a whiney, little junior high tattle-tale. You chew up more nonsensical bandwidth and crap at the DZ than anyone else. No wonder you’ve been banned everywhere.

      • Gypsy23 says:

More blather from Blevins at the DZ. We actually thought that he was only 4’1″ because his tail feathers counterbalance his cranium. 🤣🤣

      • Gypsy23 says:

More lies from the crazy dufus at AB Seattle. It would actually be the highlight
of CC21 to listen to this crazy loon give a talk. LOL…

      • Marla says:

I’ll actually show up and do a presentation for Eric Ulis, just to see what the loon from AB looks like……if he’s man enough to show up. Besides, I like Bruce Smith and he owes me a beer……..or two.
        Marla.

    • Marla says:

Yes. I’ve stated publicly that you have the best-researched and most comprehensive book on Cooper. Not full of factual errors and highly-fictionalized accounts, such as Robert Blevin’s trashy book. I never did appreciate any of Blevin’s comments about me either, or his cartoon characterizations. The only thing that some might consider offensive is your remark about my posterior. But it didn’t bother me. Not whatsoever.

    • Johnnie Green says:

Interesting that Blevins keeps bringing up Geoff Gray, Skipp Porteous, and Lyle Christianson as though they were his best friends.

      1. Geoff Gray never wanted to meet Blevins and in fact he made disparaging remarks about Blevins to several people involved in the Cooper case.
      2. Skipp Porteous never wanted to meet with his alleged co-author Robert Blevins, which seems mighty strange behavior for two alleged co-authors. Blevins “skipped” Porteous’ funeral.
      3. Lyle Christianson stated on a national radio show that he “made-up” the entire story about Ken Christianson because he wanted attention and a movie.

With friends like Geoff, Skipp, and Lyle…….why does Robert Blevins need enemies? Isn’t it easier to just invite strangers to go camping?
      LOL…….🤣

      • Gypsy23 says:

All good points, and accurate, Johnnie. Skipp Porteous was furious the way Blevins wrote Into the Blast. No evidence presented, whatsoever. A couple of interviews with some hicks and hillbillies in WA state. Geoff Gray knew the Christianson fable was about to to be exposed by the media and the FBI. Blevins only accelerated it with poor writing, poor investigation, and a yarn nobody believes. Porteous must have wondered why he ever got tangled up with the janitor from Auburn.
And what with these psychotic camping requests for Cooper enthusiasts. It’s sounds pretty creepy, and not something for underage kids to be attending. Lots of photo shopping by Blevins and lots of pictures of himself……by himself. Not one photo of Blevins with anyone else. Not even his boyfriend Greg.
Anyone can be a liar. But Blevins does it like an amateur hoping if he tells the lie often enough, some suckers will believe him. So far, there have been no takers.

      • Marla says:

Tom Colbert, who lives in LA and wrote “Last Master Outlaw,” told us a week ago that he really enjoys reading Bruce’s Mountain News and shows his producer and TV friends all of the comments. Everyone in Hollywood is laughing non-stop at Blevins. Best entertainment in the DB Cooper world. They love it and they say it’s pure comic relief. Tom plans on being in Vancouver for CC21. He’s thinking about dragging a film crew up with him for CC21. No doubt, Tom can deliver. And it will be huge! Way to go Eric, Tom, Bruce …….and the gang.

      • Gypsy23 says:

This guy who calls himself a publisher, book editor, and web producer at some obscure business site called Adventure Books of Seattle……..telling other legitimate online publishers (Mountain News/DB Cooper Forum) to halt their online comments? LOL. Ever hear of the First Amendment and free speech, you idiot? You sound disgruntled because you have no control over the comments or postings at Bruce and Dave’s sites. You have been banned for life at those sites because of your threats, nastiness, and unwelcomed speech at these privately run sites. No one comes to your internet sites, or your campouts because no one likes you. Do you understand that?
And hearing it on good authority, if you continue to berate and interfere with CC21 in any way, you will be faced with lawsuits against your business, and you personally. Go weep at the DZ, moron.

      • Johnnie Greene says:

Not a very good janitor. Even worse as a publisher and author.🤥 But Blevins missed his real calling, which is writing epitaphs. He writes good ones for his Cooper party, which no one plans to attend. 🙊

      • Gypsy23 says:

Yeah, Johnnie. But those are long-winded epitaphs. He repeats himself over and over with the same old stuff, much like an Alzheimers patient would do. Most people, like ParrotheadVol, read the first sentence and skips the remainder. For sure, Blevin’s Cooper Party is dead. Actually, it was never born. LOL.

      • Johnnie Greene says:

Skipp Porteous, recently channeled, was asked the question: Which would you prefer to attend, Blevin’s campout or CC21?
        .
Porteous said that since he never met Blevins in person, it would be ridiculous to want to meet him now. It would be like going backwards in the DBC case where nothing was known. Porteous chose CC21, and he’s looking forward to meeting the gang of “good guys.”

      • Marla says:

Robert Blevins is such a drone and a boor. Bruce Smith and the Mountain News is a treasure for us DB Cooper enthusiasts. When Bruce interviewed Skipp Porteous and learned that the two guys never met, and found out the truth from Skipp as to why Skipp didnt want to meet Blevins……..that really made Blevins angry. And he’s been angry at Bruce ever since. Imagine: one author refusing to meet with the other. In Skipp’s retelling, he’d rather die than meet Blevins.

      • Gypsy23 says:

        Ditto Geoff Gray.

      • Johnnie Greene says:

Please help us uncover the top 10 reasons why Skipp Porteous refused to meet with his co-author of Into the Blast.
Post your answers here at the Mountain News “comments.” Top respondants will receive free tickets to the highly publicized Cooper Campout in July.

      • Marla says:

Thanks Gypsy 23. I heard all of those facts before and they sound accurate. A co-author not wanting to meet his co-author? Sounds very fishy to me. And Geoff Gray wanting nothing to do with Blevins? This confirms that there is something wrong with Blevins and his story. The Ken Christianson fable was debunked long ago by the FBI. It’s as far-fetched as a space alien doing the hijacking. But Blevins repeats himself so often he hopes it will become true. But Blevins never offered one shred of solid, believable evidence. Just excuses and fabrications.
        .
The reason Skipp Porteous never wanted a personal meeting is because for the same reason no one else wants to meet Blevins. It’s because of who he is. No one goes to his campouts. It’s all fiction, just like the Ken Christianson fable. Hardly anyone ever posts at the DZ anymore because they are tired of seeing it consumed by you-know-who. Blevins has complained about everything and everybody. His hatred is
off the charts. He tried to ruin Cooper Con 2018. He tried to interfere with Shutter’s site. Brian at Ariel couldn’t stand Blevins and stated why in an email to Shutter. And I guess Skipp Porteous couldn’t stand him either.
        .
I bet Blevins will cancel his campout because no one will show up. Yet, he will blame it all on Bruce.
        .
And this is why Blevins has no friends.

  10. Gypsy23 says:

    Here’s mine:
    10. Lyle Christianson dreamed-up a fantasy that his brother Kenny was DBCooper, with no proof whatsoever.
    9. He paid Skipp Porteous in NYC to find him a Hollywood producer to do a fantasy screenplay about his brother.
    8. Geoff Gray wrote a magazine article about Kenny, after interviewing Flo Shafner, which was made possible by Skipp Porteous.
    7. Lyle recanted his entire fantasy about Kenny to Mike Fitzsimmons on his talk show in 2007 on to adio station KXLY.
    6. Porteous wanted to make a name for himself on the cheap so he got Robert Blevins to publish a fictitious book about DBCooper.
    5. Blevins made dozens of factual errors in the book, which was very poorly researched and provided no evidence whatsoever.
    4. Porteous thought that Blevin’s book cover looked ridiculous with a square, modern chute.
    3. Porteous abandoned his effort to solve the case because he didn’t trust Blevins.
    2. Porteous never wanted to meet Blevins after all if Blevin’s blunders.
    1. Porteous was highly embarrassed that he was associated with Blevins as a co-author, and never did meet with Blevins

And all of this is TRUE. But Blevins, who calls his book the true story, is lying to this day and has hijacked the DZ with utter nonsense and hate. His book is the worst seller of all Cooper books, and the least believable

  11. Mark Hinrich says:

Please excuse my apparent ignorance. I am new to all of this. I’m going to be at Cooper Con with a new book of mine. More details about it later on…

I’ve started following all the chaos and amusement in order to try and get up to speed before I get to Portland in November. Few people around me in Indiana know much about the case. It’s hell for a serious researcher like me… thank goodness we all have Bruce. I consider his book the Bible of the case, the best book out there. I tell people that if they’re only buying one book on the case, they should buy Bruce’s book.

Quick question… Am I correct in seeing that Blevins wanted nothing to do with his co-author? I think that says enough about Porteous right there… so does anyone take Kenny Christiansen seriously as a suspect?

  12. brucesmith49 says:

I don’t know how Blevins and Porteous felt about each other, but it is my understanding that they never met.

As for Kenny C, as a suspect, I don’t know too many folks who take him seriously, but some do, especially in the family. His nephew, Bruce Christiansen, came to the 2011 conference and was a true believer.

    • Marla says:

Mr. Blevins, you are truly one very mixed-up man.

      • Johnnie Greene says:

        Mark Hinrich,
Bruce’s book on DB Cooper is the gold standard. Highly researched and well documented. Bruce takes his readers where no one else can go.
        .

btw, it wasn’t Blevins who didn’t talk to Porteous. It was Porteous who had nothing to do do with Blevins. Our understanding is that Porteous was a successful investigator. He just hooked-up with the wrong dude. Their book is a disaster in sales and factual content. Really bad stuff. And everyone in the Cooper world knows it.

      • Gypsy23 says:

Over at the DZ, by Bloopins:
“Greg and I had a meeting of the minds,”
LOL. Was it Einstein and Sherlock? Or was it more like Pee Wee Herman and Barney Fife? I’m guessing the latter with a combined intelligence quotient hovering near 15. 🤣🤣

      • Johnnie Greene says:

Bruce Smith doesn’t respond to stalkers like Blevins. Hey ParrotheadVol, please quit feeding the biggest troll in the Cooper case. Yeah that idiot, the guy who thinks he moderates the DZ. If you need to attend his little campout, bring your own food. He won’t bring anything to feed strangers. A warm can of beans is about all he’s good for……enough to keep tooting his bullshit on the DZ. Surprised you actually engaged him, Parrot, considering that your stature in the case is far higher than his, which is somewhere between zero and Captain Scott walking back to have a drink and a smoke with DB. Go read his book. LOL.

      • Marla says:

        ParrotHeadVol:
But don’t purchase Blevins book. He’ll then go the DropZone and brag that he just sold 10,000 copies😂.
The Goodwill keeps a copy or two in their “free” barrel. Still no takers. Not even for a parrot cage. Woops. Sorry OHV.

      • Mark Hinrich says:

Bill is reconsidering…. showing up? Awesome! Any idea who the other prospects might be?

I’m SO looking forward to this adventure.

      • Marla says:

There will be some surprises, Mark. Cooper Con 21 will be the best ever thanks to Eric Ulis and guys like Bruce Smith and other professionals.

      • Mark Hinrich says:

I’m eager to get there already LOL

  13. Marla says:

There will be some surprises, Mark. Cooper Con 21 will be the best ever thanks to Eric Ulis and guys like Bruce Smith and other professionals.

    • Marla says:

Apparently, Tom Colbert does not read or post at the DZ because he doesn’t want his professional work or his solid reputation as a film and news producer in the same internet site as Robert Blevins. That’s understandable, as Mr. Colbert is very well respected and Blevins………his reputation and professionalism is also well known, but in the opposite direction. Tom Colbert reads the Mountain News regularly and has high regard for Bruce Smith. Colbert has not ruled out an appearance at the CC21 with Eric, Bruce and yours truly. Hopefully, Blevins will be with his mother that week, so she can keep an eye on him. He requires lots of supervision in his senior years.

      • Gypsy23 says:

Correct. Colbert thinks Blevins is a zero.
Nothing but a load of hot air looking for anyone to pay attention to him. He said that people in LA and in the film production world regard him as an old, bumbling clown. Even the folks who filmed him 10 years ago. LOL.

  15. Gypsy23 says:

Eric Ulis is really smiling. He believes that Blevin’s spurious threats and pronounced ridicule against Bruce Smith, one of the primary speakers, will enhance the CC21 turnout. Afterall, Bruce is sort of a Cooper superstar with his Jedi-like film status from last year. Blevins is more like Don Knott’s from the old Andy Griffith Show. Funny, but dumb as a box of rocks.

    • Johnnie Greene says:

This isn’t hard to predict. Blevins will get three people to attend his party, himself, Greg, and Gaylah. Greg and Gaylah will both bail out the day before. Then, Blevins will comment at DZ that he had to postpone his camping trip because his mom got sick. Or, Blevins will photoshop some pictures of a bunch of people enjoying themselves around a campfire from a different event by different people. He’s not known as the biggest liar in the Cooper world for nuthin. LOL. Blevins outed himself a decade ago.
Of course, he’s totally banned for life from posting anything at the Mountain News and the Cooper Forum. Smith and Dave won’t have him, ever. His ONLY access to the Cooper World is at the DZ, and that site is now regarded as the garbage dump where hucksters and outcasts hang out. It’s the dustbin of the Cooper world, and a place for Blevins to bitch and moan. A pathetic place.

  16. Marla says:

The DeadZone (DZ) is the only site that still let’s Robert Blevins post his garbage. He’s banned everywhere else, some places it’s a lifetime ban. He’s such a hateful person, full of revenge and misery. And jealousy of others. And creepy too.

    • Johnnie Greene says:

I wonder how long it will take before Ulis realizes that Bobby Blevins is on his new DBCooper mystery FaceBook site, using a phoney name? Can Ulis just block Blevins early on and make it a triple play? 😆

  18. Mechanic says:

AB Books written by Blevins: Greg the Techie guy.
Greg – Because he values his privacy, we sometimes refer to our IT advisor only by his first name, although he does allow us to use his full name in the copyright pages of AB books.
So…if you MUST know, just buy the right book.
Greg Page works in program development and testing at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Washington and is one heck of a nice guy.

    Greg Page (LinkedIn)
Quality Assurance Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at City of Seattle (SCL / SPU)
    Greater Seattle Area

So call Greg up and ask him if he and Blevins are associates or even friends at AB Books?

    • Marla says:

      Bruce:
      ALERT!
Robert Blevins just breached your website by filing this comment under “Mechanic.”
Please remove immediately. Mr. Blevins is a liar and not to be trusted by anyone. I doubt the Mountain News or anyone involved in the Cooper case cares in the least who “Greg the Techie Page is or whether he’s a friend of Mr. Blevins. Mr. Page needs to find better friends.

      • Marla says:

How do we know? We used Greg’s own logic. The syntax and style is Blevins. With 12 years of his garbage, a 5th grader would recognize it.

      • Marla says:

One thing we know for sure, CC21 is going to be HUGE. Eric Ulis is highly organized and Bruce Smith (now a movie star in his own right) are promoting this event in all the right places. Even Robert Blevins promotes
CC21, just by saying he won’t be attending. That’s the best promotion yet!
        LOL.🤣

      • Johnnie Greene says:

The problem Skipp Porteous had is not unlike the one the DZ readers have. Robert Blevins was calling Porteous and emailing him incessantly, with nonsence and instructions. So much so, that Porteous had enough and tried cutting Blevins off. The final straw was when the Geestman family contacted Porteous and begged Skipp to make Blevins go away. At that point, Blevins was harassing and bothering everyone with his insanity and low-level investigation. Porteous finally had enough and never wanted to meet Blevins in person. And he never did. For that, Porteous praised God.

      • Gypsy23 says:

And we all praise god for what Porteous didn’t do: Porteous never met with Blevins, or shook his hand, as two business partners or co-authors would certainly do. Skipp Porteous flat-out rejected Robert Blevins, right to his final day on earth. Blevins never even went to Porteous’ funeral. Actions and inactions speak for themselves.

      • Marla says:

That was actually one of the smartest things Blevins ever did…….turning his Cooper campouts (no attendees) into a UFO/UAP conference. We hope he gets lots of conferees to attend. Meanwhile, CC21 is attracting huge interest behind the scenes. Two documentary crews are going to set up in Vancouver. I will be there, possibly with a HUGE surprise guest in tow. Bruce is rolling with a big film production crew and just returned from LA with all expense paid trip like a royal, and Eric is getting national publicity for his CC21. Even Mr. Georger is getting into the act. (We all secretly love Georger, even though he is a tricky operator.😉).
And a couple new books on the horizon, debunking some of the laughable suspects, well, at least one laughable suspect. CC21 is going to be a biggie.

      • Gypsy23 says:

Ulis says he may even get 750 to 1000 signed up for CC21. It’s possible, as Hollywood is preparing to promote it. Into the Blast is the biggest hoax book on Cooper and doesn’t sell at all, no matter how much horse-pucky it’s author throws out. Skipp Porteous baled-out when he learned the background of his alleged co-author.
Bruce’s book and his tv stardom, and his friendliness, have attracted bigtime Hollywood producers. The other guy?
As Tom Colbert and Geoff Gray have stated, …..initially, he was good for a laugh or two…….now he’s just pathetic.

      • Marla says:

Eric Ulis is really smoking on this CC21. Hotel discounts, ground transportation, bars, restaurants, local media coverage. Even national media coverage. Two film production crews on site. Special guests. This will be a BIG one. I hope Bruce wears his costume.
The sour puss from Auburn is getting more sour each day LOL. Ulis might even forgive him for what he did to try and ruin the CC in 2018 and drop him an invite.

  19. Marla says:

My boyfriend and I will be in the Seattle area next weekend and he’s a drone enthusiast. We might head down to Cooper Campout and test out his drone at the campsite. Will be interesting to see how the photos turn out and count all of the campers from above. DZ would probably love the photos published, since anybody can post there.

  20. Kari says:

You tell me, I know what I firmly believe as well as what my family believes AND MOST IMPORTANTLY a small town police dectetive found enough credibility in what I had shown him to go ahead an turn it over to the FBI but of course the FBI wont so much as notion the idea unless the parachute or money is brought forth. Well I am going to now put my story out there as well as give some of my opinions in to what I think happened in 1971 an to what just of happened to the money an than social media can decide from here on out. At least I will know that I too told what I kbow an whatever happens from here on out happens knoeing I too tried to get what I know out there. I can say this an that is if by some fluke of a chance the person in question is not Cooper than without any doubt whatsoever this (these) people I’m about to tell you about knows who Cooper is. I believe one way or another these men are the answer in solving just who Cooper really is an the ONLY REASON this case has yet to be solved is because no one has considered other options, they have not been thinking outside the box an opening their minds a bit on circumstances such as the AGE of DB Cooper, his OCCUPATION an more. This is my story, my thoughts an opinions. Could it be I do know who Cooper really is an he’s not in anyways deceased but alive an living in a quaint little town up in Skagit County, WA. Here is my story. It was about 9 years ago when my husband came home one evening an asked if we had enough room for two more for dinner. Sure I tell him. I’m not going to give you any real names here so we will call the man to be Cooper Dan. Ok back to it, my husband introduced me to these nice two much older men he says to me Tamy this is Dan an this is Jesse an I happened to meet them this afternoon an they offered me a job going gold mining with them. I kind of laughed an said ah ok so now your going to strike it rich gold mining are ya (little did I know my husband just might have brought home another type of gold thay evening) My husband explained to me that they have been gold miners for the past fifty plus years that they are not some men just out goofing around etc an that he was going to be joining them on their next expedition along the skagit river. And that is how Dan an Jesse had become to be in our lives. For the next year my family an I got to know these two men very well, they had spent allot of time with us having dinners drinks etc oh an the drink of choice by both men nonetheless BOURBON an SODA an as Dan always liked to say to me when I would make his drinks “No funny stuff now Tamy, make it strong” as he lite up his Canadian brand cigarette. Dan an Jesse did not have any other job beside the gold mining yet they always had money. They were by no means well off an live a very humbolt if not more on the poor side of life out in their small farm home in the country. Dan an Jesse liked to talk an talk ALLOT , seemed “back in the day” they spent a great deal of time in mexico, Canada an California. They have family in Alaska and Canada as well. One thing they talked about quite a bit was that they had a well to do relative that they would one day inherit a substantial amount of money from. Dan at times when he had a little too much to drink had a bit of a Canadian accent, not too much of one but enough that you could hear it every now an than depending on his moods. Both men are just your basic down to earth men. They do speak with respect when addressing others such as meeting someone like my father by saying Sir or Sirs an woman mam. For the most part very respectful. When it comes to Dan however he also has a bitter side to him in fact there were times he would get quite angry. Jesse not so much he was basically just kind and kept more of a low key but I would not be honest if I didnt say that Dan on the other hand would frighten me from time to time and my daughter as well. My daughter would say that she now no longer thinks of Dan as a nice man. There have been some things that had happened in the past five years to where my daughter said she saw an awful side to Dan, a very angry side to him an even though she does believe that Dan is Cooper (she’s not one to believe so easy in fact it took some time but the evidence convinced her) she had asked me to plesse let this go, this meaning going forward an exposing him because she thinks I just might get hurt. My daughter might be right and a few others as well as my own father has asked me to put a stop to it and I did, for the past 6 years I let it rest but in leiu of the 50th anniversary coming up there is also the fact that there are so many out there claiming to either be Cooper or have known him “My decessed uncle jumped so many feet to soon because” etc Well I have a story to an one with much more consciences than anyone else has ever brought forward so WHY NOT TELL MY SYORY an see if anyone else thinks that just maybe Cooper is alive an the reason this has not been solved is for the simple fact we’ve been looking at this all wrong. Anyway back to how Dan became known to us as Cooper. It was about a year after we met Dan an Jesse that my husband came home late one evening when he woke me up Tamy wake up he says as he shakes my shoulder till I wake up. What is it I asked, My husband hands me two pieces of paper one is a Sketch of a man an one is a real life photo. What is this all about I asked. Do you know who Db cooper is my husband asks me. I honestly had no idea at all. Sorry never did well in history I just had no idea whatsoever who Db cooper was BUT I WAS ABOUT TO FIND OUT an what comes next I hope you too will find quite interesting. Back to the two pictures. My husband asked if i thought the sketch looked anything like the real life photo an of course it did I said it was dead on, its as if the sketch came to life, the eyes the shape the hair the ears I MEAN EVERY DETAIL ON THE SKETCH WAS BROOGHT TO LIFE IN THE PHOTO an ill tell you this, after I looked into everything online an looked at all the photos of all suspects that there is not one photo ever put out there that came even near as close to what I had in my hands. Yes there were others that came close had some resemblance but no one an I do mean NO ONE HAD WHAT I HAD AN THAT WAS A DEAD ON EVERY DETAIL IN THE SKETCH WAS LITERALLY BROUGHT TO LIFE IT WAS 100 PERCENT MATCH one being in black an white an the an the other a real life in full color photo! On the back of the photo it said “its me im not dead but alive an well, no funny stuff im Db cooper” My husband than proceeds to tell me that Dan had confessed to him this evening that he was none other than DB Cooper. Dan had asked my husband not to tell anyone not even me an that the reason he told my husband was because he felt that since they have become such good friends, work together etc an if course along with a little too much to drink he confessed to my husband an gave him a photo of himself at the time the hijacking occured. To be honest I really just assumed it was the alcohol talking but the picture an sketch, well lets just say it was enough to get my attention an start doing some of my own investigating on this matter and so I did. For the next few months I researched everything I could possibly find out about this Db cooper. Besides the photo there was the way these men lived, exactly as profiled by the FBI than there were the ties to mexico Canada an more than we had the drinks Bourbon an soda the Canadian cigaretts he smoked an how he would often say things to me “no funny stuff Tamy” an no he was not trying to convince me he was Cooper this was just the way he talked and lived. One of the letters Cooper so called sent it started with “sirs” as did a letter Dan sent to someone else, it stated the same way. In trying to sum all this up an move on ill just say I decided to take the photo to the local police dept an see what they thought. To be honest I felt stupid an that Iwould probably just be laughed at but this weren’t the case at all. When I handed the detective the sketch an the real life photo I will never forget the look on his face nor the exact words that came out of his mouth. First of all his eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his head when he says to me “Tamy where the fuck did you get this do you realize I have to go to the FBI with this, there is not any other photo ever that has been brought forward like this, who is this man” At first I woukd not give the name up but when the detective told me that even though he would be prosecuted there is the chance he could be pardoned as he is looked upon as an hero an Icon etc an worst case he would have enough commisory to live quite comfortably in jail. Jail is not what I wanted to have happen to him at all but I do think Coopers chances of getting an acquital are pretty damn good. Regardless of the outcome I did in fact give up the name. Once I did the detective too thought it couldn’t be not him. But he could not deny what he had in his hands. I told him to do what he felt he thought was best. I left the photo with him an went home an on with my life. About six months later Dan an Jesse had come by for dinner an on this particular night they gave my kids ad well as myself some rocks. I asked Dan what was with the rocks, what kind of rocks were they and Dan replied, they are titanium rocks they got back in mexico gokd mining back in the day. It was a good eight month’s or so later when I was cooking dinner an my daughter was doing her homework when the news came on “update on the DB Cooper case, tituminum has been linked to Db Cooper’s tie” I’ll never forget that moment either, when my daughter turned around an said to me “Mom those rocks, titanium mom! Maybe its time to start gathering those cigarette butts an bagging them” I never did do anything else about this matter, never went to the detective with the rocks, nothing. At this point I was just gonna let it be an if anything happens with the photo than ill share the rock matter. I guess i was just not really up to seeing him go to jail an i was going to let it go, for the time being. Tye next 6 years of my life, well lets just say my life went through some very tough times an Db Cooper was the least of my worries in fact far from my thoughts. Than one day im watching the news an again here comes yet another person with a long lost deceased relative who begore passing told them he was Cooper an a photo that looked nothing at all compared to the photo I left with the police Dept. So I got to thinking, here not only did I have a confession he gave to my husband I had the photo an now I had the matter of the titanium rocks in fact I had more coincidences than anyone else to date an I had him not decessed but alive an well so if someone could get their story of just a dead relative who said so an a pic that resembles nothing to what I had than why not get what I had out there there too an get others opinions. So I called the police dept an inquired about my photo an asked if i could have it bavk. They informed me that they would have to get back to me that they in fact found enough credibility in the evidence I brought them an in fact sent it on to the FBI. I got a call from my father about two an a half months later, apparently the detective did not have my new cell number so they called my father as I also left his number as a contact. Again something else ill never forget an truthfully if nothing else than the fact my father now believed me would be good enough for me if this never went any futher. My father calls me up an says to me “Tamy I got a call from a detective today and it appears he needs to get ahold of you, when I asked him what it was in regards to he told me Db Cooper so I asked the detective if you were in fact onto sonething or was this just some far fetched notion an Tamy I would like to apolige to you for thinking that you were maybe a bit off your rocker six years ago when you were running around saying you believed to have come upon the fact you know who Db cooper is because the detective assured me you have something, a photo an it could very well make the news. I could not believe it, to have all of this validated causa truthfully all of this was hard for me to believe as well. Anyway I got in touch with the detective an he informed me that they had just received my photo back from the FBI an the FBI had closed the case an would not acknowledge anything else unless physical evidence such as the parachute or money was brought in an that maybe the best thing to do is just for me to pick up my picture an go the social media route. So that’s what i had fully intended to do. There’s just one problem, when I got the file back my photo the real life photo was not returned! What I got back was copies od the sketch an Mckoys photo a copy of it, the same cooy that is online everywhere!!! My photo with the writing on back was not returned to me! I called the police dept an explained this to them an all they could say was they were sorry but their hands were tied, there was nothing they could do that that is what the FBI sent back. I was an to this day still am pissed but their the FBI an for some reason they wont give me back what I gave them, they try to convince me that that’s what I gave them! BULLSHIT! My daughter an husband saw the real photo so I know without a doubt im not crazy in fact I have no choice to believe that there is some kind of cover up of some sort going on. So there it is my story. Oh one other thing, I saw Dan ab Jesse two years ago. When at their home they had a young cow in the front of the property. I mentioned how sweet the cow was. When I asked the cows name they said Alice an I said, as in Alice in Wonderland an Jesse sais no I named her after my niece Alice an shes a flight attendant not out in Wonderland. We just laughed an that was it. Hmmmm a flight attendant??? My hunch is this, Dan is Cooper an had the help of Jesse. When he jumped he had done so in an area where maybe he was well prepared to hold up in a gold mine somewhere an that the titanium particles on the tie was from gold mining, that the reason this case had never been solved was they got the age way off, you just never know. Than again all of this could amount to nothing at all but I wanted to at least get what I had out there an see if maybe anyone else agrees that there just coukd be something to this afterall. Thank you for reading my story, if it turns out to be nothing the one thing I know it still is is a good story. And to answer why I am talking, its simple, if the entire world was looking for a golden egg an you stumbled upon it wouldn’t you too wanna share it?

      • Johnnie Greene says:

Ditto, Gypsy. Maybe we can talk Bruce into going up to My. Rainier with us. If he brings his Jedi costume, we can do a little surprise drop in. At least a drive-by for photos and a few autographs. Should be at least three or four people standing around with their hand in their pockets wondering why they are wasting their weekend.

Now that Blevins has confirmed that he sabotaged the 2018 CooperCon, Eric Ulis will be on the lookout. Blevins is not just a MF’er, as Bruce has accurately stated, Blevins is a menace to the investigation. A total disrupter. At the DZ, the only place Blevins is allowed to post, everyone ignores him. Blevins is banned everywhere. Even Bryan Woodruff banned him from ever returning to Ariel. Skipp Porteous refused to EVER meet Blevins in person. Geoff Gray stayed far away from Blevins. FBI agents built a firewall, so as never to get near this serial liar. His book is trash. His campouts bring NOBODY. He is 100% jealous of Bruce. We will take photos of his campout and publish at DZ to show the truth that no one cares to be around this idiot. Even Gayla avoids the campout.

      • Gypsy23 says:

Luvin it! Bruce showing up to Blevin’s little campout in his Jedi costume, even with a laser sword. He’d steal Blevin’s show, and everyone ( all 7 or 8 participants) would be seeking Bruce’s autograph. Hell, I’ll show up just to finally meet Bruce.

To be honest I felt stupid, that I would probably just be laughed at but this was not the case at all. When I handed the detective the sketch an the real life photo I will never forget the look on his face nor the exact words that came out of his mouth, his eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his head when he says to me “Tamy where the fuck did you get this, you realize I have to go to the FBI with this, there is not any other photo ever that has been brought forward like this, who is this man” At first I would not give the name up but when the detective told me that even though he would be prosecuted there is the chance he could be pardoned as he is looked upon as an hero an Icon etc an worst case he would have enough commisory to live quite comfortably in jail. Jail is not what I wanted to have happen to him at all but I do think Coopers chances of getting an acquittal are pretty damn good. Regardless of the outcome I did in fact give up the name. Once I did the detective too thought it couldn’t be, not him. But he could not deny what he had in his hands. I told him to do what he felt he thought was best. I left the photo with him an went home an on with my life. About six months later Dan an Jesse had come by for dinner an on this particular night they gave my kids as well as myself some rocks. I asked Dan what was with the rocks, what kind of rocks were they and Dan replied, they are titanium rocks they got back in mexico gold mining back in the day. Guess I was just not up to seeing him go to jail, I decided to let it go, for the time being. The next 6 years of my life, well let’s just say my life went through some very tough times, Db Cooper was the least of my worries in fact far from my thoughts. Than one day were watching the news an again here comes yet another person with a long lost deceased relative who before passing told them he was Cooper with a photo that looked nothing like him really. I got to thinking, here not only did I have a confession (well my husband had the confession) I had a photo that by all means topped any photo out there to date, I also had the matter of the titanium rocks in fact I have more coincidences than anyone else an him ALIVE not decessed! If someone could get their story of just a dead relative who said so an a picture with no comparrison to what I had than why not get what I had out there as well, get other people’s opinions on this right? I called the police dept an inquired about my photo an asked if i could have it back. They informed me that they would have to get back to me that they in fact found enough credibility in what i gave them an sent it on to the FBI. I got a call from my father about two an a half months later, apparently the detective did not have my new phone number so they called my father as I left his number as a contact as well. Once again something else ill never forget an truthfully if nothing else than the fact my father now believed me comes from this than that would be good enough for me. If this never went any futher. My father calls me up an says to me “Tamy I got a call from a detective today and it appears he needs to get ahold of you, when I asked him what it was in regards to he told me Db Cooper so I asked the detective if you were in fact onto something or was this just some far fetched notion, an Tamy I would like to apolige to you for thinking that you were maybe a bit off your rocker six years ago when you were running around saying you believed to of stumbled upon Db Cooper, the detective told me you have something, a photo an it could very well make the news. I could not believe it, to have all of this validated when truthfully this was hard for me to believe as well. So I got in touch with the detective, he informed me that they had just received my photo back from the FBI and that they had closed the case, would not acknowledge anything else unless physical evidence such as the parachute or money was brought forward, that maybe the best thing to do is to pick up my picture an go the social media route. I had fully intended to do just that but there was just one problem, the FBI did not send me the photo I submitted What I got back was copies of that Richard guys photo, the same cooy that is online everywhere!!! My photo, my real life photo with the writing on back was not returned to me! I called the police dept an explained this to them, all they could say was they were sorry but their hands were tied, there was nothing they could do that that is what the FBI sent back. I was an to this day still am pissed but their the FBI an for some reason they didnt send what I gave them back to me! This is such BULLSHIT I could not believe it! But you know something, My daughter an husband saw the photo, the detective did as well so I know without a doubt im not crazy. It has led me to believe that there is some kind of cover up of some sort going on. There you have it my Db Cooper story! One more thing, we saw Dan Jesse two years ago. They had a cow in the front of the property. I mentioned how sweet the cow was. When I asked the cows name Alice Jesse said, I asked as in Alice in Wonderland no after my niece Alice, shes a flight attendant, not out in Wonderland. Than again all of this could amount to nothing at all but I wanted to at least get what I had out there, see if maybe anyone else agrees that there just could be something to this afterall. Thank you for reading my story, if it turns out to be nothing the one thing I do know its still is a good story. Without even trying to convince me Dan was Cooper he did a excellent job with all the circumstantial evidence. I would also like to address some issues, to answer some questions im sure people are going to have in regards to why im doing this because there’s always going to be the skeptical ones who are going to go tough on me by asking things such as why am I talking, what’s in it for me, am I doing this for money or am I seeking some kind of fame etc. Basically it’s quite simple really an the answer to all those questions are this…….. If the entire world has been out looking for a golden egg for the past fifty years an you happened to stumble upon it wouldn’t you too wanna tell everyone “I found it” if you answer honestly than im sure you can understand why. Did I do it for the money? No, in fact I was not aware of any type if reward until the detective told me AFTER i brought in the photo. And if you think about it I didn’t push it, instead for the past 6 yrs I’ve done absolutely nothing at all about it. Did I do it for fame? Fame no but maybe for the glory, to be the one that helped solve the case, that is if in fact Dan does turn out to be Cooper. If you knew me you than would know that I’m not the kind of person who likes to stand out in a crowd in fact I try to live a very very low key life, I do not like to bring attention to myself, Im one to sit in back of the class not in front an the idea of speaking in front of a bunch of people gives me anxiety like u wouldn’t believe. But to be a fly on the wall if this did go somewhere, now that would be just perfect. Its like dont knock the underdog, for the ones who made fun of me at times in my life, for the bullies out there an the ones that called me crazy, what a great feeling it would be to really have this be true, to be able to say, “look who’s crazy now” so yea the glory of it all would be cool an lets face it how cool it woukd be to go down in the history books on this one right! Other than that I’m just putting out there what I know in regards to this DB Cooper mystery because isnt that what were all trying to find out, WHO IS DB COOPER? Until we hear all there is to hear, explore all avenues than this case will remain a mystery an never be solved.
