DB Cooper and me are swimming upstream at Amazon

Bruce A. Smith

A favor; a request to you all.

I need some help sorting out the confusion at Amazon concerning my new books – DB Cooper and the FBI – A Case Study of America’s Only Unsolved Skyjacking, 3rd Edition – in both the paperback and e-book versions.

Apparently, I need click traffic to my actual “author” page and the “sales” page to drive the algorithms Amazon uses to select and place new books. In addition, some publishing houses pay Amazon to put their books at the top of the list, so I’m swimming upstream against two currents.

Plus, Amazon is confused, or allows confusion to exist from folks who use Amazon to sell used copies of my old editions.

Bottom Line, customers are having difficulty finding my new books to even consider purchasing them. If you could click on these two links below, I’d be greatly appreciative. One is for the author page and the other is the sales page. Thanks.

AND:

Big thanks to you all.

Bruce

Clicking away, Bruce. Hope it helps. I couldn’t help but notice Robert Blevins posted a photo of all DB Cooper books, EXCEPT yours. Another fit of severe jealousy, especially since your book outsells his dumb book by about 10 to 1. His book is trash and doesn’t sell at all. No one wants a book full of lies. Geoff Gray also says that Blevins……well, “no comment.”
Now Blevins is posting at the DZ as LouieMeyer. Look at the time stamp and the syntax. Pure Blevins fraud and lies. No wonder he “had” to leave Auburn.
There might have been an eviction and a restraining order.
Anyway, good luck, Bruce. At least you have good friends. The other guy……..none.

    • Gypsy23 says:

ps……Blevins used photos of CC21 to show few attendees, which is another of his tricks. But the truth is, Blevins can’t post up photos of his campouts or UFO party because no one attended. So, no photos. What a huge POS.

    11) Three different case agents at Seattle FO (Mueller, Carr, Eng) all dismissed Ken Christianson as the hijacker. “Not even close. His physical description does not fit the physical description given by the witnesses. None of the NWA flight crew ever identified KC in later years of employment.”
    12) Robert Blevins is so obsessed with his suspect, the FBI agents on NORJAK refused to meet with him. “A total screwball.”

  5. YoMama says:

I think if people search for “db cooper fbi” or “db cooper book” or “db cooper and the fbi” they will find your book.

You have to scroll down 5 with “db cooper book”
strangely, “db cooper bruce smith” tends to still show your 2nd edition.

Yes Edwards has paid ad, which tops yours.

    “db cooper bruce” works
“db cooper smith” shows your 3rd edition kindle and 2nd book.

it seems like if “smith” is included, the 2nd edition book tends to get shown.

“db cooper and the fbi” is probably the best way to find it (i.e. the title)

    I would add
    hijacking
    skyjack
    hijack
    norjak
    flight 305
to the keywords for search on your book.

    example
    “db cooper hijack”
gets a hit on marla’s book, but not yours

    “db cooper norjak”
gets the Norjak book, and a adult coloring book about Cooper 🙂
    sad. 🙂

  6. YoMama'sBoyfriend says:

Oh and add “dbcooper” as a keyword. That’s different than “db cooper”

  7. brucesmith49 says:

BTW, Yo Mama’s BF, how long have you been dating Yo Mama? Just asking…

  8. brucesmith49 says:

“DB Cooper book,” works best at Amazon to see my book. Ya gotta scroll down a bit, but it’s the right book at the right price.

  9. brucesmith49 says:

“DB Cooper FBI” also works okay.

  10. brucesmith49 says:

“DB Cooper Bruce” works fantastically. Top billing for both the paperback and Kindle versions at the correct price.

I think it would be a “all is right in the world” if
    “tina mucklow”
    showed your book
    not Andrade
Why should Andrade get all the obsessives trying to research why Tina is gonna make a movie!
I think Andrade must have added the names of key people to his amazon keywords.
You should too! (all the main people you reference in chapters, for example, or those most interesting to people)

  13. brucesmith49 says:

Will do, Pool Boy. Thanks for the tip.

  14. Gypsy23 says:

We tried to contact Greg Techie, but he doesn’t exist. Another one of Blevin’s big lies. He never did exist. Blevins just wanted to make it look like he was the boss of someone. Anyone. Blevins lies about everything. No one ever showed us at his hook-up campouts either. No photos of anybody with Blevins. But we know one thing for sure……Gayla does exist. And she’s about to elucidate us on the real Robert Blevins. Oh, does she have some great stuff on the old man. Meanwhile, we love Blevins visiting the Mountain News so we can continue releasing the truth about him. ..for ALL to read.

  15. Gypsy23 says:

Right on. Blevins has plugged up the DZ with his shit. Time to visit Gayla in Auburn and get the straight poop on this liar. I know just the reporter who can do the job.

    • Marla says:

The little old man in Yakima who’s shacked-up with another ugly woman. He is a broken record, full of jealousy. Everyone leaves him in the dust. Complete loser and a real dumbsh*t too. Poor DZ. Fkyjack and PHV are the only ones who talk to him. Everyone else has moved on.

    • Marla says:

Merry Christmas to ALL, and to ALL a good night! Even the lame guy who claims he never reads the Mountain News. HO-HO-HO.⛄😝
      .

      • Marla says:

We understand that book sales are better than ever, Bruce. Congratulations! Your Mountain News is the first place everyone goes for the latest info. And good luck with your new movie contract too.

      • Marla says:

ps….Mr. Blevins must love the Mountain News too. That’s all he talks about at the DZ. You got him hooked, Uncle Bruce. LOL……

      • Gypsy23 says:

I bought a new copy of ‘Blast’ for 79¢ at a bookstore. The manager told me that he only sold one or two copies in a year, so the markdown would at least pay for shelf space. I’m keeping my copy as evidence to show how the author was a liar and has zero credibility.
Also, I can now make it official: Greg The Techi Guy is an imaginary friend of Blevins, who Blevins can use to make false proclamations and hide behind when defaming others. Greg TTG doesn’t exist. He’s Blevins invisible pen pal who knows everything and speaks through his creator…..Robert Blevins.
        Cheers, All.

      • Gypsy23 says:

The DZ has turned into a barf-bag depository for
the mentally insane. Nothing to do with Cooper anymore because of one giant, obnoxious asshole. We hope Bruce invites all Cooper fans
over to the Mountain News for some serious discussions, with his ongoing ability to tune-out the giant asshole. This will turn the DZ into a place for one mentally deranged individual to talk to himself. We can check on him once a year.

      • Marla says:

Here’s a new one: In Sunday’s, January 23rd edition of the Seattle Times, is an insert called Pacific Northwest Magazine. There is a cover story about Ralph Himmelsbach. Good read!

  16. Marla says:

Here’s a new one: In Sunday’s, January 23rd edition of the Seattle Times, is an insert called Pacific Northwest Magazine. There is a cover story about Ralph Himmelsbach. Good read!

    • brucesmith49 says:

It is a good read. I posted the entire text of the article at the DB Cooper Forum. It illuminates much of Ralph Himmelsbach’s personal life, such as pix of his father who was also a pilot in the Army Air Corps.

      • Marla says:

Thank you, Uncle Bruce. You met RH. In fact, you were in his house with him for an interview. I think it’s time for you to roll out a follow-up on your interview and give us the scoop again. I doubt the author of the PNWM interviewed RH.

  17. brucesmith49 says:

Yup, I interviewed RH in 2011 – on my way to interview Tina, too! They only lived an hour or two away from each other, which makes RH’s decision not to talk to her very suspicious in my view. The author of the RH profile in the Seattle Times is Danny O’Neil, and I agree, it appears he did not interview RH, as Ralph died a year or two ago. But Danny did talk extensively with Ralph’s wife, Joice, and Joice’s daughter, who gave him a ton of family photos and lots of great insights and quotes.

    • Marla says:

I believe you met Joice Himmelsbach. Didn’t she invite you into her home? And yes, I agree with your view. RH and Tina Mucklow lived close by in Oregon for about 40 years. I think Tina was in a sort of witness protection program through the FBI. RH lied when he said he never met Tina. She was being protected from a later appearance by DB Cooper.
You rock, Uncle Bruce, and you have a far better story than Danny O’Neil.

  18. brucesmith49 says:

Joice greeted me warmly as Ralph ushered me into their home. Yup, I think the convent functioned as a kind of informal witness protection program, and her silence and low profile maintained that protection when she reentered the world. Remember, when she left the nuns she functioned under her married name, not Mucklow.

    • Marla says:

Did Ralph Himmelsbach try and fleece you for a grand? Rumor was that RH charged a minimum of $1000 per interview. Maybe Joice liked you and held Ralphie at bay?

      • brucesmith49 says:

Nope. Ralph usually charged 600 bucks for a print interview and 2,300 for a video interview. He didn’t charge me for my 20 minute visit in 2011.

      • Marla says:

Outstanding. Your ability to get tough interviews speaks for itself. You also interviewed Tina Mucklow’s brother in law (an FBI agent). No one else could do that. Not even the author of the alleged 2nd greatest selling book on DB Cooper. LOL …😁😂🤣🤣🤣

      • Gypsy23 says:

Without question, Uncle Bruce is the literary talent and prime investigative writer in the DB Cooper world. And he doesn’t boast about any of it. A humble, first-class journalist and author.

  19. Willie Comstack says:

Yep, no doubt about it. Bruce is bigger than BIG NEWS. Who will have their own representative at the United Nations first? Brice or Blevins ? And it all happened because of DB Cooper! Astounding!

  20. brucesmith49 says:

Now, Willie, let’s not get carried away…..

  21. Marla says:

Word is traveling like wildfire. Blevins is perm banned everywhere. He’s gone. I will personally invite Gayla to join us now at any Cooper site.

  22. brucesmith49 says:

I’m heading over to the DZ.

    • Marla says:

You will be very welcomed back, Bruce. Your ugly antagonist, who is over-jealous of your outstanding works, has taken leave……not on his own, but rather by swift boot out the back end. Probably without a parachute.😂🤣🤣👏👏👏

  23. brucesmith49 says:

See ya there. Just signed up again.

    • Gypsy23 says:

I just contacted my old buddy Johnnie Green and told him the news. He said there should be an obituary posted. LOL. Anyway, big hello to Bruce. Now we can get back to the real case, not the nut case.

      • Marla says:

Johnnie Green. Now there’s a name closely associated to the Blevin’s years. I think Bruce finally got rid of Green, sort of like he got rid of Blevins. But Green was really quite funny and some of us would like him back. Just saying.

      • Marla says:

My guess is that Blevins will write his own obituary and complain about how all the DZ people gave him a slow death.😝😝🤣

    1 Parachutes
Mr. George Harrison, Northwest Airlines(NWA), Flight Operations, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, (SeaTac) advised that he talked with Mr. Barry Halstead of Pacific Aviation at Boeing Field, Seattle, in order to secure parachutes to furnish to the hijacker in this matter. He stated that two parachutes were obtained through Halstead, these two parachutes being back pack parachutes. He stated that two chest pack parachutes which were also furnished to the hijacker were obtained from Mr. Linn Emerick of Seattle Sky Sports in Issaquah, Washington. He stated that these two chest pack parachutes were transported to Sea-Tac by the Washington State Patrol.
Mr. Barry Halstead, Pacific Aviation, Boeing Field, Seattle, advised that he two backpack parachutes which were furnished to Northwest Airlines were obtained from a Mr.Norman Hayden of Hayden Manufacturing Company at Renton, WA.
Mr. Norman Hayden, Hayden Manufacturing Company, Renton, advised that two back pack parachutes which were his property, were furnished to Northwest Airlines. He stated that he called a taxi cab in Kent,Washington, and had the taxi cab deliver the parachutes to Boeing Flight Service, Seattle. He described the two back pack parachutes as follows:
    1) Civilian luxury type, tan soft cotton material outside, 26-foot white canopy inside. The parachute inside is a military parachute. The parachute has a foam pad cushion and a fray mark down the rib on the back from rubbing on metal.
    2) Amilitary backpack parachute, standard olive-drab green on outside,28-foot white canopy on inside. He stated that this parachute also has a foam pad cushion.
He stated that both parachutes bore lead seals which had not been broken, and it is possible that the seals may bear a confidential number, such as a rigger’s number. He stated that both of his parachutes were assembled for him by Mr. Earl Cossey, who works at Sky Sports at Issaquah, Washington, and has a telephone number of SU-3-0475. Hayden said he can positively identify both of his back pack parachutes.
    (End of PDF excerpt)

    • brucesmith49 says:

Yup. That’s what Barry Halstead told me.

However, Norman Hayden told me a different story. Although he showed me his “not-used-by-Cooper” back chute and it was a Pioneer/Steinthal with a white 26-foot canopy, I didn’t see a foam pad cushion on it nor a fray mark down the rib. This chute is now in the ownership of the WSHM and was on public display in 2013. I had no way of determining if this parachute had a military canopy or not. Norman did not tell me it was. I inspected the packing card and the serial number is SN 226. Of note, the FBI has reported it found a second packing car at Reno for the second back chute, and it’s serial number is: SN 60-9707. I assume these cards confirm Norman’s claims as he told me he thought both of his back chutes were identical – both being Pioneer/Steinthal.

      • Merl says:

What interests me is that it was an NWA employee, George Harrison, who was tasked with finding chutes. I guess it was NWA’s problem, but who else was actively communicating trying to secure chutes and from whom? The FBI ? Did anyone contact the Air Force? Harrison is interesting because he winds up performing a lot of duties … procuring chutes, procuring flight comm tapes, taking notes (listening to live flight comms?) . . . it appears Harrison was literally at the center of this hijacking performing all kinds of functions …. whats your perspective on this Bruce?

      • brucesmith49 says:

Yup, George Harrison was Mr. NWO that evening – competent, committed, and caring. I don’t know what role the FBI played – if any – in procuring the chutes. Maybe they arranged for the WSP to run out to Issaquah and get the front chutes. I do know that the recent 302s show that the FBI was calling people as late as 3 am to ascertain exactly what chutes were given to DBC. Somebody apparently called the Air Force, since NORAD called McChord and told Major Dawson to NOT put chaff in the chutes he was packing. Harrison’s second-in-command, I think, Al Lee, NWO’s Chief Pilot at Sea-Tac was the one who called Cossey to get chutes – according to Cossey. I have never heard or seen any corroboration on that independent of Cossey.

      • Marla says:

The DZ is is being re-generated. Lots of old but familiar names are starting to show up again, including ……. Bruce. Like old times, without the Caustic One. The DB Cooper case is getting a new, breath of fresh air. Thank you, DZ moderator.

      • Johnnie Green says:

I just got the news that Robert Blevins was permanently outcasted from the DropZone, and I have to weigh-in. This actually calls for a congratulations to Mr. Bruce Smith, who had to endure, for years, all of those nasty accusations by Blevins. Most of it was pure envy because Smith wrote a highly regarded and scholarly book on The DB Cooper mystery and Blevins wrote a book full of errors, omissions, and make-believe alleged facts. Of course, none of Blevins claims are true. Mr. Smith banned me at one point, but I plan on redeeming myself to a higher level of discussion about the case. And I salute Smith for enduring all of the criticism and
nastiness that was rendered by the biggest liar at the DZ, or should I say biggest liar……formerly at the DZ. My hat is off to you, Bruce Smith.

      • Marla says:

I talked to the Drop Zone Administrator for 15-minutes when I called in to lodge a complaint against Robert Blevins. He told me that there were almost 100 complaints lodged against Blevins, and that’s what spurred the DZ into action. It seems odd because only a couple dozen people usually post at DZ. But what he told me was that there are many viewers who don’t submit to the comment section themselves and were tired of all his child-like antics and baloney. They had been complaining for months. Some of them were Hollywood producers who used the DZ to gain information for their upcoming productions on Cooper. The Administrator said “it would be a cold day in hell before RMB ever returns to the DZ.”

      • Marla says:

I’m hearing that Larry Carr is back on the NORJAK case at the Seattle FO and he is willing to talk/meet with Bruce Smith for a very detailed interview. Does this mean that Bruce may also get access to all of the evidence file, which has apparently been returned to the Seattle FO? This could he exciting. I hope Larry reads Bruce’s book on Cooper.

  25. brucesmith49 says:

Larry did indeed get in touch and has confirmed that he has received a copy of my book.

    • Gypsy23 says:

Wow! That is huge, Bruce. A legitimate claim that the FBI has read Bruce’s work. Sure beats the claims of others who only dream that the FBI reads their book.
      Congratulations to you!

      • Marla says:

So, who is the real hero of the DB Cooper case? The Seattle Times thinks it is Ralph Himmelsbach, who was the subject of their expose last month. But Hollywood producers think it is Tina Mucklow, who is the main subject of a big screen production due for release late in the year. What say you…….Uncle Bruce?
(I kinda though the mayor of Cooper world and the author of the best Cooper book was the star). 😉

  26. brucesmith49 says:

Real heroes…such an elusive concept. As the Mayor of Cooperville, I say that honor goes to many, if for only a partial contribution to the honest pursuit of DB Cooper. I nominate: Tom Kaye, Eric Ulis, Darren Schaeffer, Galen Cook, Larry Carr, and a few others – myself included.

    • Marla says:

You probably should’ve included Georger on the list, at least as a “hero in wait.” Snarkiness should not be a pre-emptor for consideration. Contribution by entitlement, whether real or perceived, is still contribution in a case like this. Thanks, Mayor.

  27. brucesmith49 says:

I agree. Georger is a member in the DBC Honor Roll.
