Health Department seeks public comment on BioFuels permit

 Editor’s Note:  The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department had issued the following press release, announcing their interest in receiving public commentary on the extraction of methane gas at the Graham landfill and its subsequent production into Compressed Natural Gas.  In the past, LRI has told the Mountain News that they hope to produce up to 5,000 gallons per day of fuel from the Graham site. Voters in 2 precincts in Parkland and Spanaway to receive corrected ballot

Dedication celebrates completion of Phase 2 at the Pierce County Skills Center

 Just days after celebrating other building openings across town, such as the Bethel Learning Center and the remodel of Shining Mountain Elementary School, Bethel School District executives were at it again.  The excitement of these many new or remodeled structures around the district was shown in the smile BSD’s top administrator displayed Tuesday afternoon inside the Pierce County Skills Center’s newest phase.

All Bethel Community Day strengthens bonds between neighbors

A bit of dread swelled up inside my chest as I battled the traffic outside Bethel High School early Saturday morning.  Just more than a month ago I had volunteered to be president of the local community council in Frederickson, a job I had already been nervous about – but hoped the wonderful volunteers would help me through.  They had, graciously, but this was the first event that I had a direct decision, so I feared it might not go as well as planned.
